Sculptra: Longevity, Aftercare, and the "5-5-5" Rule (4 of 4 posts)
When I perform a treatment, I see it as a partnership between practitioner and patient. I provide the clinical expertise and the precision of the injection, but the way you care for your skin at home is what truly protects and maximises your investment. Unlike many other treatments, Sculptra requires the client to take an active role in the days following the appointment.
The beauty of a treatment that builds your own collagen is its longevity. While many hyaluronic acid fillers may need a top-up within six to nine months, the effects of a Sculptra series can last up to two years, and sometimes even longer. You are quite literally investing in the quality of your skin’s future. Because the results are your own living tissue, they don't simply "wear off" in the way a traditional filler might. Instead, they provide a long-term reservoir of support.
To get the most out of your treatment, I ask my clients to follow the "5-5-5" rule: massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after your session. This isn't just a suggestion; it is a vital step in the process. This mechanical massage helps ensure the PLLA particles are perfectly and evenly distributed within the tissue, resulting in the smoothest, most harmonious results possible. It prevents particles from clustering and ensures that the new collagen forms an even, subtle sheet of support.
As the months pass, you’ll likely notice an improvement not just in volume, but in the overall radiance and texture of your skin. Choosing Sculptra is a statement that you value your skin's health and resilience as much as its appearance. It is a commitment to a version of yourself that is refreshed, restored, and ready to face the future with confidence. By the time we reach the two-year mark, most clients find that their skin quality remains significantly better than when they started. It is a grounded, efficient, and deeply satisfying way to approach long-term skin health.
